STUDENT PLACEMENT OVERVIEW

You will…
Conduct one-on-one therapy sessions with students, supervised by an experienced psychologist.
Work alongside teachers, parents, and school staff to provide holistic care.

We match students with predominantly primary schools and a smaller pool of secondary schools across Victoria. Your placement is based on:
Your location preferences
Your clinical experience and learning goals
School availability and student needs.
Once matched, you’ll receive details about your school and what to expect before starting.
Note: We offer placements in metro, regional and rural locations. You may need to travel for your placement days. -
You’ll receive comprehensive, structured supervision, including:

✔ Window into therapy supervision to observe a Senior Psychologist work with real clients

You’ll work with children and adolescents presenting with mild-to-moderate mental health concerns. Caseloads are carefully balanced to ensure you gain experience without being overwhelmed.
You’ll have opportunities to:
✔ Provide one-on-one therapy sessions
✔ Work closely with teachers and parents
✔ Use Feedback Informed Treatment to track and improve outcomes. -
First 3 - 4 weeks of placement: Assist with triaging referrals received from the school, send consent forms to the parents, conduct parent intake meetings, meet with teachers and conduct classroom observations.
Weeks 4 - 5: One-on-one therapy with 3 - 4 clients per day. This equates to 8 clients per week.
Unassigned hours will include writing case notes, meeting with parents & teachers, observations and report and letter writing. -
We provide 2 days per week as a standard. However, we can offer more days if the placement requires this. Please discuss the days with us in your interview.
We also offer a 4-day internship program. -
8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Yes! All placements are designed to provide enough direct client contact hours to meet university requirements. If you have specific requirements, let us know, and we’ll work with you and your university to ensure compliance.

Be enrolled in Masters of Professional Psychology, Masters of Psychology, Doctorate of Psychology, Post Registration or Internship
Have a Working with Children Certificate
Have Provisional Registration with AHPRA
Hold a valid National Police Check.
