Frequently Asked Questions

  • We offer tier 3 support for students with 1:1 Therapy and/or Assessment-based support.

For our Assessments, you can choose from: 2 x Cognitive Assessments per semester, OR Vineland Assessments, ADHD and ASD Screeners Assistance (with up to 4 DIP/NCCD applications per semester).

  • In our co-therapy model, each school is assigned both a senior registered psychologist and a practicum student.
The senior psychologist provides guidance and designs plans.
The practicum student works directly with students, providing counselling, assessments, collecting data, and delivering treatment plans.

  • Schools typically see observable improvements in student mental health within four weeks of sessions commencing. The positive outcomes from counselling tend to last for up to two years, with continued progress over time.

  • Schools enter into a service agreement with us. This means they do not directly employ psychologists. The cost is set to be affordable while ensuring a strong impact. Funding is structured to make the most of available resources.

Costs vary depending on the package options: 1, 2, or 3 days per week or a 4-day internship.

  • We use an evidence-based mental health model to collect student feedback after each therapy session. We use it to track progress, assess and adjust treatment plans. This data-driven approach ensures that counselling remains effective and tailored to each student’s needs.

  • Psychs in Schools employs registered psychologists with qualifications in either Educational and Developmental Psychology or Clinical Psychology. They are supported by practicum students completing Master’s Degrees in psychology. These students are usually provisionally registered psychologists.

  • Psychs in Schools partners with many schools across Victoria. It focuses on rural and regional schools to reduce mental health service inequality.

We ask that you provide: a desk and chairs for the provisional psychologist. Please ensure staff can see them, not students. Please arrange weekly meetings and referrals.
