About Our Placements
Psychs in Schools provides authentic, school-based psychology placements that prepare students for professional practice in educational settings.
Our placements are designed to meet APAC Psychology Program Level 3 and Level 4 competencies, supporting the development of core clinical, assessment and intervention skills. Students gain meaningful, hands-on experience within real school environments, working alongside experienced supervisors.
We offer a balanced placement model, including both counselling-focused and limited assessment-focused opportunities, allowing students to build confidence across key areas of school psychology practice.

Our leadership team brings extensive experience in postgraduate psychology training and is committed to providing high-quality placement experiences for students.
We offer structured supervision through a combination of individual and group formats, ensuring students receive meaningful feedback, professional guidance and support throughout their placement. All student work is reviewed within a strong clinical governance framework to promote safe, ethical and reflective practice.
Placement learning includes:
Case reports and presentations
Clinical note reviews
School-based case review meetings
Direct observations
Simulated practice activities
Working with school teams to provide multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) for clients.
In addition, students have access to our online learning platform, which includes up to 50 courses tailored to professional practice in educational environments. These resources support applied learning during placement while also complementing university coursework and competency development.
PSYCHOLOGY PLACEMENT OVERVIEW
Psychs in Schools offers a structured 40-day placement completed across a two-day per week schedule*.
Placements are delivered within one or two partner schools, providing students with consistent, real-world experience in educational settings.
Our placement calendar aligns with school terms. During school holiday periods, students continue their learning through remote work, including supervision, professional development and clinical tasks.
*Option for additional days at the school, should the placement require it.
Students receive…
Two hours per week of supervision, delivered through a combination of individual and group formats (online).
Supervision provided by experienced AHPRA Board-Approved Supervisors with Clinical and/or Educational & Developmental endorsement.
The option to participate in an additional four hours of Feedback-Informed Treatment (FIT) supervision across the semester.
An eight-hour face-to-face pre-placement training day to ensure they are well prepared for practice within school environments.

We provide comprehensive, structured supervision, including:
✔ Weekly one-on-one supervision with a senior psychologist

We work with children and adolescents presenting with mild-to-moderate mental health concerns. Caseloads are carefully balanced to ensure you gain experience without being overwhelmed.
Provisional Psychologists will have opportunities to:
✔ Provide one-on-one counselling sessions
✔ Work closely with teachers and parents
✔ Use Feedback Informed Treatment to track and improve outcomes. -
We provide 2 days per week as a standard. However, we can offer more days if the placement requires this.
We also offer a 4-day internship program. -
Yes! All placements are designed to provide enough direct client contact hours to meet university requirements. If you have specific requirements, let us know. We’ll work with you and your university to ensure compliance.

Have a Working with Children Certificate
Have Provisional or Full Registration with PsyBA
Hold a valid Working with Children’s check.
